Announcement:
Affinity's funding cycle is closed. Please check back towards the end of this year for 2008 guidelines.
First: Please read the "Grantmaking
Overview" section of our website to determine if your
project is eligible and fits with our strategic vision.
Second:
Eligible organizations must submit a brief letter of
intent (LOI) electronically through our web form. The
form requests information about your organization and
project. After you have completed the form, you will be
ready to submit your LOI by clicking the on-screen
“submit” button. For a detailed description of our
LOI Requirements
or to submit an LOI,
click
here.
Review Process:
If the
LOI that you submit meets our basic criteria, it will be
placed into one of our two funding tracks for additional
review. The two funding tracks are termed "Full
Proposal" and "Technical Assistance."
Track I:
Full Proposal Funding
If
your LOI is placed into the full proposal track, it
will be reviewed by our staff and outside experts
using our
selection criteria.
If you are invited to submit a proposal, an
application packet will be sent to you within
approximately six to eight weeks of the LOI
deadline. After we conduct a review of the full
proposals, we will award four grantees up to
$135,000 a year for two years ($270,000 total award)
to complete their proposed project.

Track II:
Technical Assistance Funding If your LOI is placed into the technical
assistance track, it will be reviewed by our
staff and possibly by outside experts using our
selection criteria.
Our review committee will select a portion of
these LOIs to advance to the second stage of
review. We may contact you to set up an informal
site visit to help us gather more information
about your idea and meet your project team.
The technical assistance funding track is
designed to support innovative ideas for
projects where the proposal would benefit from
additional expertise. We will provide that
assistance through consulting hours from
methodologists, grant writers, etc. who will
help you shape your idea into a proposed project
that will be more likely to succeed.
Technical Assistance awardees will receive up to
$35,000 worth of technical expertise for up to
one year to enhance their project proposal. When
and if this work is successfully completed,
these projects will be funded as a full proposal
for an additional two years.
