To make funding decisions, Affinity first determines if your organization/project is eligible and then we assess your LOI against the following selection criteria. We want to work with organizations that have innovative ideas to address health issues in their respective communities. The following questions help us select projects for each of our funding tracks.

1. Problem Statement:
Did the problem statement objectively identify and describe a specific opportunity, challenge, issue or need and the community or population it will serve.
2. Innovation:
Is the project innovative? Did the LOI include a description of how the project will do things differently, explore new territory, and take risks? Does the proposal represent “outside the box” thinking?
3. Collaboration/Partnership:
Would the proposed project benefit from a collaboration or partnership to reach its stated goal? Does the LOI describe two or more organizations or disciplines that could work together, each contributing a specialized service or capability?
4. Narrow Funding Opportunities:
Did the LOI include a list of prior grant submissions? Does the organization seem less likely to access traditional funding streams (National Institute of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, etc.)?
5. Experience:
Does the LOI sufficiently describe the experience of a team, their collective skills and knowledge and their track record of accomplishing projects in the past?
6. Organizational Commitment:
Does the project seem to have organizational commitment (resources, support from parent organization, staff time, space, overhead) to assure success?
7. Project Design:
Does the description of the project objectives and measurable outcomes illustrate how they will reach their overall project goal? Are the outcomes measurable? Does the LOI sufficiently describe the process they will use to meet their stated objectives and outcomes including information on planning, execution and analysis?
