    When to visit an emergency room

    Use good judgment in deciding when to use emergency medical services. If you are alarmed by unusually severe symptoms, it is best to seek immediate care. Below is a limited list of the most common reasons to visit an emergency room.

    • Loss of consciousness/fainting
    • Signs or symptoms of stroke or heart attack/chest pain
    • Shortness of breath
    • Infants less than 6 months with a temperature greater than 103 degrees
    • Severe burns
    • Severe choking (can’t talk or breathe)
